Today, after receiving six degrees, I felt satisfaction for the first time along with a sense of pride. I have received awards in the cultural field earlier, but receiving an award in the educational field, and that too in the name of Janakavi P. Savlaram, gives me immense joy that cannot be expressed in words.
During the period from 2022–23 to 2023–24, together with my fellow colleagues, I worked extensively on a unique initiative called “Shikshan Karuya Sope” (Let’s Make Education Simple), which focused on joyful and playful learning. This programme reached 14,000 students across 180 schools of Thane and Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporations. Until now, I had never written about it, but I will soon share a detailed account.
For acknowledging this work, I am deeply grateful to Hon. Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, Hon. MP Naresh Mhaske, the Municipal Commissioner, officers, and committee members, as the Thane Municipal Corporation and P. Savlaram Committee recognized my efforts. The award comprised a cash prize of ₹25,000 and a memento, which will surely serve as motivation to continue working ahead.
This year, the P. Savlaram Jeevan Gaurav Award was given to actor Uday Sabnis, the Ganga Jamuna Award to actress Leena Bhagwat, the Emerging Artist Honour to “Hawa Yeu Dya” fame Dattatray More, and the Literature Award to Nikita Bhagwat. Through these recognitions, the Thane Municipal Corporation has once again encouraged local talent, for which I express my heartfelt gratitude.
